Climate Resilience and Agricultural Systems Assessment Plateau State, Nigeria
Client: Independent Research & Data Collection Assignment
Project Period: 2025
Project Summary
Data-axis Consult supported a climate resilience and agricultural systems assessment in semi-arid communities in Plateau State, focusing on how climate change affects agricultural productivity, access to inputs, and adaptation practices among smallholder farmers.
The assignment involved field-based research across 75 farmer groups, with attention to gender and age differences in access to agricultural inputs, financing, and mechanized farming options. Data was collected through structured surveys and focus group discussions with women, men, and youth farmers.
The assessment generated evidence on climate adaptation experiences and constraints faced by smallholder farmers, particularly women. Insights from the fieldwork contributed to program discussions on improving access to climate-resilient farming practices and inputs for women farmers in Jos North Local Government Area.
